Acoustic levels within a confined space play an important factor with regards to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and usage of sensitive testing equipment. Whereas acoustic levels for sensitive testing equipment are based on manufacturer’s specifications, Malaysian Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) legislation note that according to Regulations 5 and 6 of the FACTORIES AND MACHINERY ACT 1967 [ACT 139], the permissible exposure limits for noise for employees are:
- 90 dB(A) for 8 hours or First Schedule or Daily noise dose of 1.0
- 115 dB(A) at any time
- 140 dB for impulsive noise
To assist our clients in ensuring compliance to standards and specifications, we employ the use of XL2 Audio and Acoustic Analyzer equipped with M2230 microphone. This sound level meter is capable of measuring noise levels in the range of 17 dB(A) – 137 dB at frequencies of 4.4 Hz – 23.0 kHz and is configured to Class 1 in accordance with IEC 61672 and ANSI S1.4 to provide top notch sound level measurement and acoustic analysis in accordance to safety standards. We are able to provide sound level measurements in A, C and Z frequency weightings and Fast or Slow time weightings. Aside from measurements and analysis, we also provide consultancy services for mitigation and reduction of acoustic levels. Paired with our expertise in engineering simulations, we are able to offer numerically accurate and practical solutions tailored to your specific needs.
